Description

We are looking for fresh voices to join our Morning Run team. If you have a passion for business and management issues, and at least 3 years experience in journalism, or have a good grasp of the current affairs, please do submit your CV for us to have a chat.

Responsibilities:

  1. You would not only interview, but prepare research and dive deep into the business and market news of the day.
  2. We start early: our day starts at 5 am with an editorial meeting in the studio. You are off the air at 10am and how you structure your research and interview times is extremely flexible.
  3. Our listeners, business managers and professionals, must find you credible and authoritative regarding Malaysian business and markets. This means you need to know your CAGRs, EBITDAs and NTAs - familiarity with standard business language and reporting is a must
  4. You should exude the values of BFM: professionalism, integrity and intellectual honesty.
  5. You must be a team player, willing to take on any and all tasks that need doing to produce a quality programme.
  6. A degree in business, finance, accounting or related disciplines is beneficial.
Requirements

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Consistently source new, fresh and insightful guests
  2. Prep and greet guests
  3. Schedule topics and interviews at ;east two or three weeks in advance 
  4. Conduct background research for interviews
  5. Arrange interviews to be pre recorded, ensure there is always at least one edited interview in the bank
  6. Actively seek synergies and collaborations with other cells in area of mutual interest
  7. Maintain the contacts database
  8. Help protect editorial integrity
  9. Continously learn new skills (eg. RSC system, studio operations,editing, production and technical)
  10. Nurture and encourage an ownership mentality of their own cell and for programmes they are not responsible for
  11. Ensure promos produced on time , and that commercial obligations are met
  12. Keep up to date on Malaysian business news and regional markets
  13. Assist regularly with the preparation of the daily Market Watch questions and reports
  14. Proactively support each presenter in the preformance of their duties
  15. Ensure that all deadlines are met, all interviews scheduled, recorded and podcasted appropriately
  16. Accept constructive feedback in the spirit given, and actively seek to improve their programmes in terms of content and technical innovation
  17. Contributes actively to the social media promotion of their and their cell's programmes
  18. Volunteers for BFM-wide initiatives without being specifically tasked to do so
  19. Actively attend available trainings as relevant to their role and programmes
  20. Able to conceptualise and execute longer-form produced programmes as the need arises.
